  • Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety

    March 17, 2025: The Long Point Region Conservation Authority is extending the Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety due to elevated stream flows in the rivers. View further details in the NOTICE. 

  • Lake Erie Water Quality – Taste and Odour Advisory

    With changing temperature and weather conditions, a significant change in the water quality on Lake Erie has occurred. This change may cause a slight but noticeable taste and odour in the treated water supplied to Bayham from the Elgin Area Primary Water Supply System (EAPWSS). The treated water supplied to Bayham from the EAPWSS continues to meet water quality standards established by Ontario Regulation.

    If you’ve have ever thought about a career in policing or have wanted to learn more about their operations, Elgin County OPP have an opportunity for you!

    Residents are invited to apply to the Elgin County OPP Citizens’ Police Academy, for 9 Free Info Sessions, scheduled for Thursday nights from 7pm – 9pm, starting March 20th to May 15th, 2025, located at the Malahide Community Place, at 12105 Whittaker Rd, Springfield, ON

    Presentations from various Specialty Units of the OPP, such as, Forensics, Canine, Major Crime, and more!

    Pick up & submit an application at the St Thomas OPP Detachment, located at 42696 John Wise Line, St Thomas, ON.

  • 2025 Municipal Assistance Applications are NOW OPEN

    Municipal Assistance (Special Event & Funding Requests) 

    Community groups may now apply for their 2025 Municipal Assistance Requests. 

    Please visit the Municipal Assistance & Programs page on our website, for more information, and the link to the application form. 

    Due to the 2025 Operating Budget being delayed, the application deadlines for these requests are also pushed back. The schedule for Municipal Assistance requests are as follows: 

    First Intake 

    • Applications due April 30, 2025 
    • Considered by Council on May 15, 2025 

    Second Intake 

    • Applications due May 31, 2025
    • Considered by Council on June 19, 2025
  • 2024 & 2025 Garbage Tag Holiday Collection Schedule

    Please visit the Garbage and Recycling page on our website and click on the Calendar – Waste Collection tab for links to the 2024 & 2025 Waste Collection Calendars for the upcoming holiday garbage & recycling pick up schedule.

    A reminder that the 2024 Garbage Tags expire at the end of 2024, and you will need to have your 2025 Garbage Tags beginning Jan 2, 2025. Please be sure to pick up your 2025 Garbage Tag kit from the Municipal Office before December 24, 2024 at 12pm, as the office will be closed until January 2, 2025.

    In the meantime, if you run out of 2024 Garbage Tags over the holidays, or you didn’t pick up your 2025 Garbage Tag kit from the Municipal Office before the holidays, please click on the NOTICE to see where to purchase extra garbage tags all year round.
